It's been a while...
I hope and offer thanks to the Mighty Blind Io that you are all healthy and staying safe.
Not a lot to say these days - but wanted to drop by to say something anyway. We're all in various states of lockdown, tours have been cancelled and personally, I missed out on my 8th TOOL show because of it. That said, I'm not upset. It was for the best of everyone. I have a list of close
friends who rely on touring as their main source of income and I feeel for them.
That said - if you're pining for something new to listen to, Danny is still playing shows with The (Doug) Webb Allstars at the small-but-amazing Baked Potato venue in Studio City (Los Angeles). You can catch them playing live via streaming
and also buy and watch previous performances on-demand. Highly recommend.
Lastly, thanks to one of my Destiny 2 clan mates - I wanted to share this great cover of Right In Two by a couple of great string musicians out of India called Beard of Harmony. Go listen and give them a thumbs up, it's well deserved. Thanks Box!
Stay safe friends. Don't be a dick - wear a mask.
Another trip around the big burning ball of plasma.
A few days ago, a musician and redditor by the name of Cameron Winters dropped into our subreddit and blessed us all with an enormous Google Drive dump of tabs - including therein, a full collection of tabs for the new album and for 10,000 Days that we haven't had on here in years. Direct link to his post here.
But that's not all! Cameron also has a great YouTube channel dedicated to guitar playing and has a video for every single TOOL song that he's tabbed. Visit his page and enjoy.
No, seriously, do it.
But wait - there's more!. Our long time bass tabber Brad has also been doing the YouTubes for quite a long time and I have linked the videos he's so far done from the new album. He's got a lot more in there so take some time to watch/listen.
And finally, I've updated the full ZIP download to include the updated tabs. Enjoy.
New Album. New Tabs.
Whether you've pre-ordered it or not - the new album is up on Spotify and probably other streaming services (I haven't checked yet).
I'll be posting some tabs of Fear Inoculum (song) for both guitar and bass shortly - though they easily be found on other tab sites as well. That said I still plan to have a full reviewed collection here.
Enjoy the new music friends - we've waited a long time for this.
After much deliberation, we've finally moved the site to a new hosting. Updates pending.
I'm sure most people are aware that there is a new album in the works - and that it might actually even be released in 2018. At least Justin and Danny have said as much - Maynard seems to disagree with that sentiment. With a new APC record & tour on the way, expecting a full release from TOOL in the same year might be expecting a bit much.
In the meantime, we can play clips like this on repeat while we continue to chew our knuckles waiting for the real deal. Wings started off as a live jam inbetween songs during the latter portions of the Lateralus tours, so If this doesn't make it onto the new album in some variation, I'll be surprised.
This is just my personal thought - but I believe this next album may eclipse Lateralus. Just a feeling.
TOOLTABS - TWENTY EIGHTEEN
Hell, It's about time.
A while ago, the official TOOL website got it's first redesign in as many years as I've been a fan -- which for me, puts it around 18 years -- so I figured; Surely if they can do it...then we can do a little change up as well. Finally.
We're keeping things simple here, at least initially. As of this writing, the tabs we have have not changed in a very long time. The collection remains the same. That said; if you are able, willing and wanting to work on the existing or new tabs, please feel free to contact us and we'll work something out. We need to finish 10,000 Days especially.
I don't yet have a 100% mobile version of the site ready -- that'll have to come later...
In the meantime, while we're waiting for the new album to manifest or listening to the new APC stuff, you can kill some time and maybe say hello in our new subreddit that I've created. Be sure to chime in on the topic of using a forum vs /r.
